The Dentists

Dr. James Bratten

Dr. James Bratten was born and raised in Smyrna, and his entire professional career has been spent in his hometown. He has been active in youth sports, Rutherford County boards, and professional organizations. Dr. Bratten was chairman of two county boards and on the state board of the Academy of General Dentistry.

In 2003, Dr. James Bratten was awarded Mastership status from the Academy of General Dentistry. Only one percent of dentists are Masters. This title was earned due to a lifetime of continuing education in dentistry.

In addition to these organizations, Dr. Bratten is a provider volunteer in the Dental Lifeline Network and Interfaith Dental Clinic of Rutherford County. He offers his services for free to both organizations, which help deserving individuals who cannot afford excellent care.

Dr. Bratten has dedicated his life to treating his patients just as he does his own family. He is always aware of the newest technology but careful not to be influenced by aggressive advertisements of unproven products, which can be misleading to the public.

Dr. Paul Deines

After graduating near the top of his dental school class at the University of Louisville, Dr.  Deines served in the US Navy Dental Corps for five years in Norfolk, VA, Camp Pendleton, CA, and Okinawa, Japan.

From 2018 to 2020, Lieutenant Deines was a Navy dentist stationed in Japan. He served in the US Navy Dental Corps and was responsible for providing comprehensive dentistry to 13,000 American service members and their families. This included the pilots, crews, air traffic controllers, and mechanics on the flight line in Okinawa.

Dr. Deines comes from a family of dentists – his grandfather, uncle, cousin, and mother all currently practice or have worked in the dental field. He brings his skills and passion to Bratten Dental, the same qualities that have earned him an exceptional reputation among patients and peers.
